Online vehicle license plate selection offers available sets of license plates at respective motor vehicles offices (stations) for motorists to choose online after sequential issuance of non-designated plates. Number(s) selectable at each motor vehicles office (station) may vary. For example, where the availability is set to 800 numbers, MVDIS will automatically complement the options to 800, allowing motorists to select their favorite plate number.
Shinying Motor Vehicles Station is here to share with you the tips for selecting license plate numbers:
I. Fees:
1. Automobiles, Trailers, and Red License Plate Big-Sized Heavy Motorcycles (Motorcycles with a cubic capacity exceeding 550 cm³) – starting from NT$2,000.
2. Yellow License Plate Big-Sized Heavy Motorcycles (Motorcycles with a cubic capacity from 251 cm³ to 549 cm³), Ordinary Light/Heavy Motorcycles, and Mini Electric Two-Wheel Vehicles – starting from NT$1,000.
II. License Plate Pick-Up Deadlines: (The following examples are based on working days)
1. For applicants completing number selection and fees transfer on weekdays (Monday through Friday) by 15:30 of application date, the license pick-up deadline will be the next working day. For example, where an applicant completes number selection and fees transfer at 15:00 on a Friday, the license pick-up deadline will be the next working day.
2. For applicants completing number selection and fees transfer on Monday through Thursday after 15:30 of application date, the license pick-up deadline will be two working days following the application date, which will be postponed to the next working day if coincided with holiday. For example, where an applicant completes number selection and fees transfer at 15:30 on a Thursday, the license pick-up deadline will be next Monday.
3. For applicants completing number selection and fees transfer after 15:30 on a Friday and by 23:59 on a Sunday, the license pick-up deadline will be next Tuesday.
III. Notice:
1. Upon basic information entry for license pick-up, if the “name of license plate owner” is not the signed up member on the MVDIS, always select “Agent” at “Application Type”.
2. For applicants intending to re-register for new license plate or obtain replacement for an existing license plate, select “Yes” at “A license plate has been obtained for the vehicle” and enter the “Original License Plate Number” and “VIN” or “Engine Number”.
3. The selected license plate may only be installed on the vehicle, picked up by the pick-up owner registered upon online selection, and may not be installed on other vehicles or picked up by other owners.
4. The number selection may be performed at any motor vehicles office (station). Pick up the selected plate at its jurisdiction office (station).
Director Tsai-Cheng Li of the Shinying Motor Vehicles Station would like to remind applicants to apply for consent letter for plate change from the creditor company in advance and proceed with the plate selection after obtaining the consent letter if the vehicle is subject to chattel mortgage or conditional sales agreement to ensure successful pick-up at respective motor vehicles office (station). Wish all the applicants may get the preferred plate.
