  • I want to buy a used motorcycle, how should I handle the transfer procedures?

    Please prepare following certificates:

    (1)A valid residence permit and seal of the new owner.

    (2)The ID certificate of the original owner (ID card or valid driver’s license for local people, valid residence permit for foreign residences) and seal.

    (3)The driving permit of the motorcycle.

    (4)Valid compulsory insurance card by the name of the new owner(the term of validity is above 30 days).

    (5)Motor transfer registry. (with seals of both new and original owner, and the telephone number of the new owner)

    (6)Motors that have been used over five years should pass the inspection in advance unless it has already been inspected within passed four months. 

    (7)The transfer fee is 150 NTD, fines and unpaid taxes should be paid up at the same time. 

    (8)If the new owner is a foreign labor, the agreement from hirer and driver’s license will be required.

    (9)If the original owner is a foreign labor, his/her service unit should provide the exit certificate of foreign residences, vehicle certificates, transfer agreement and warrant, and then handle the transfer procedure.

  • I want to buy a new motorcycle, what should I do to get my license plate?

    Please take a valid residence permit and the following certificates:
    (1) Applications of new motor plate registry, two copies for each format, all columns filled up with applicant’s seal. The motorcycle should pass the inspection, and the registry form must have the seal of the inspector.
    (2)Product certificate, the payment certificate of commodity tax and uniform invoice, the engine number should be noted on the invoice.
    (3)valid compulsory insurance card (the term of validity is above 30 days)
    PS. Foreign labors should check the agreement of the hirer and driver’s license.

  • What should I do if I want to cede transfer the ownership of my car?

    Please prepare both of the original copies of ID certificates, seals of the selling and buying party, valid compulsory insurance card (the term of validity is above 30 days) for the new owner; unpaid fines and taxes should be paid up in advance; If the car has been used over five years, you should pass the temporary vehicle inspection first, or you shall not be allowed to transfer the ownership of your car.

  • How long should I have my vehicle inspected?

    According to Article 44, road traffic safety rules, private minibuses and large-sized heavy motorcycles which are produced under 5 years are allowed not to have regular inspection; 5 years above, 10 years under should be inspected one time per year at least; 10 years above should be twice per year at least. But for those private minibuses which use liquid petroleum gas and compressed natural gas as fuel, other categories of private vehicles and business vehicles that are produced under 5 years should at least be inspected once per year; 5 years above twice per year at least. Trailers should be examined once per year at least.

  • What should I do if I lost my driving permit?

    Please prepare your original ID certificate (residence permit and passport shall be valid), form for car owner, insurance card and seal, and handle at the car alteration window.

  • What should I do if my car inspection is overdue?

    Violators who are not prosecuted or prosecuted but haven’t exceeded the due date, may take the violation ticket, original copy of driving permit, valid vehicle compulsory insurance card and original copy of owner form of plate registry (not required for private small vehicles and under) to any Motor and Vehicle station, bureau, office and authorized factory to handle the inspection and payment. For those who have been prosecuted and exceeded the due date, but not more than 7 months after the appointed inspection date for the license, should take the violation ticket, original copy of vehicle registration, valid vehicle compulsory insurance card and original copy of owner form of plate registry (not required for private small vehicles and under) to every Motor and Vehicle station, bureau, office to handle the examination and payment procedures.

  • What should I do if I want to change the color of my vehicle?

    If you want to respray your vehicle, you should take your valid residence permit, seal, driving permit, valid compulsory insurance card (the term of validity is above 30 days)and owner form of new plate registry to Motor and vehicle institutions to handle the color change registry. If you want to change shell, please take the original copy of valid residence permit, seal, vehicle registration, valid compulsory insurance card (the term of validity is above 30 days), owner form of new plat registry and the invoice of vehicle shell to motor and vehicle institutions to handle the color change registry.
